The Open is Over!

If you're anything like me, you had a blast during the Foundry Open, you're glad it's over, and you're already looking forward to next year! There were some awesome moments, PR's and performances during this year's workouts, as usual. It's for these moments that we encourage everyone to participate. If you missed out this year, make sure you sign up in 2018!

While we were having our inner-gym competition, a few athletes threw their hat into the ring for the CrossFit Open, and there are some notable finishes to report! When you see these guys at the gym, let them know that you're proud of them!

Sean finished in the top 200 IN THE WORLD in the Men's 35-39 category. He has worked hard to achieve this and we're proud of him! He now gets to do 4 more workouts at the end of April as part of the Master's Qualifiers. The top 20 athletes move on to the CrossFit Games, so he's going to need our support as he tackles these workouts. Having competed at a high level on several occasions before, he's definitely up to the task. Way to go, Sean!

Hunter Frech competed in the Teenage Boys 14-15 Division and did a great job, finishing 14th in Southern California! It's awesome to see such a good kid take a serious interest in fitness and excel!

Grey had his work cut out for him this year in the Teenage Boys 16-17 Division, with every workout requiring the same weight as the Men's division! Although these were some heavy workouts, he was able to get through them and finished 13th in Southern California. I'm proud of my son, and I'm looking forward to seeing where he's at in 2 years! These boys make me wish I had started CrossFit when I was a teenager!

Give it up for these athletes! 👏👏👏

Foundry Open WOD 17.5

The last workout is here, and it looks like it's going to be a blast! If you're performing the workout in classes on Friday, be prepared for class to run a little late. If we run multiple heats, it may take a bit of time to get people through the workout. If anyone is around and available to judge, swing by and help out!

On Saturday after we finish the workout we're going to have smoked pork and sides. We hope everyone will come out to support our competitors and eat great food!

Me buddy carrying Jack Osborne. Yes, that one.

The Foundry Open is almost over, just one more workout to go. I suspect that we will see Dumbbell Thrusters with either Double Unders or Ring Muscle Ups in 17.5. Can't wait!  It would be awesome if we could get everyone to show up to complete 17.5 on Friday or Saturday and be able to wrap up the Open this weekend without dragging it into the following week. Tell your teammates to make it into the gym to complete their workout!

It's looking like Hustle and Muscle is going to come out on top, and we've agreed that we'd like to get food for the gym on Saturday the 25th after the workout is completed. I hope everyone can make it out.

After that, what are we going to do with all this energy? The GoRuck Challenge is coming to Palm Springs.  http://www.goruck.com/tough-challenge-palm-springs-ca-04-14-2017-11925/p/E011925

Tiffani and I completed this challenge in LA a few years ago, and it was "fun." It starts at 9pm, goes through the night, and ends sometime around 11-12. The entire challenge is completed while wearing a rucksack (or backpack) with weight in it, and the rest of the details are unknown. Perfect for us crazy CrossFitters! Let's get a bunch of people and sign up!

Website Changes

Allison during 17.3!

Allison during 17.3!

We have made a few changes to the website that we hope everyone will enjoy. Besides swapping out a few pictures here and there, the main change is that the WOD will update automatically on its own page at 7pm, and the top 3 men's and women's scores from Beyond the Whiteboard will automatically appear under each workout. Train hard, log your results, and try to get to the top of the leaderboard!

This blog, which used to be where the WOD was posted each night, will continue to be the primary source of news, updates and info for the gym and its community. Check it often!

We're 3/5's of the way through the Foundry Open! It's been a blast so far, and we're loving the support you guys are giving each other. Let's keep it going for 17.4 and 17.5, whatever they may be.
